The Magic Cooking Pot: Follow-up tips for August 14th, 15th and 21st story classes

This week, we explored the story, The Magic Cooking Pot. The story teaches valuable lessons about generosity,  kindness and forgiveness. Here are three simple, practical tips to help reinforce the story’s themes with your students or children:

1. Discuss the Story’s Message

Reflect on the lessons featured in, The Magic Cooking Pot. Talk about how the little girl and her mother demonstrated generosity and kindness to their community and even to their greedy neighbour. Ask questions like, “How did the little girl and her mother share the magic pot?” to help solidify these concepts.

2. Art Project: Create Your Own Magic Pot
Have students design their own “magic cooking pots.” Provide paper, markers, glue sticks, dry pasta, yarn, cotton balls and other craft materials. Encourage them to think about what they would like their pot magically create and how it could help others.

3. Creative Storytelling Exercise
Invite children to retell the story or tell about their favourite parts in the story. You can also help them make up their own story inspired by, The Magic Cooking Pot. Together,  imagine a different magical object and new challenges, incorporating themes of generosity and kindness in your new story!

These activities deepen the story’s impact while promoting creativity and important values. Keep the magic alive by integrating these tips into your lessons or home activities!
