A simple and fun craft for children to bring The Half Chick story to life!
Materials Needed:
- Brown or white paper lunch bags
- Yellow construction paper or cardstock
- Orange construction paper (for beak and feet)
- Googly eyes or black marker
- Glue sticks
- Child-safe scissors
- Feathers (optional)
- Crayons or markers
Instructions:
- Prepare the Pieces – Pre-cut a large half-circle from yellow construction paper for the chick’s body. Also, cut out an orange triangle for the beak and one small orange foot.
- Decorate the Paper Bag – Have children glue the half-circle onto the front of the paper bag (on the flap side) to create the chick’s body.
- Add the Face – Let them glue on a googly eye (or draw one with a marker) and attach the orange beak to the flap.
- Attach Foot & Feathers – Glue the foot to the bottom of the bag. If using feathers, let the children stick them on the sides or top for extra texture.
- Story Retelling Fun! – Encourage kids to use their puppets to act out The Half Chick, practicing kindness and helpfulness.
This easy craft encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and storytelling in a playful, hands-on way!
