My Story


From a young age, I was captivated by the power of stories. My first job in high school was in the children’s room at the public library, where I told stories to young listeners and shelved books. This early experience ignited my lifelong passion for storytelling. 


I pursued my love for the arts by earning a bachelor’s degree from Kansas University, followed by a Master of Fine Arts in Drama from New York University. During my time in New York, I performed in Off-Broadway shows while simultaneously running a creative childcare program in upper Manhattan, where I began honing my storytelling skills.


After relocating to Toronto, I continued my journey by writing and producing programs for Kids CBC and performing interactive storytelling and drama assemblies in schools and childcare centres throughout the Greater Toronto Area.


My passion for storytelling and education led me to co-found Storyvalues in 2007, alongside artist and designer Matthew Giffin. Together, we developed an online interactive educational storytelling program that was later licensed by the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).


In 2015, our dedication to innovative education was recognized when we were selected to participate in the inaugural Canada-China Angel Alliance program. This opportunity took us to China, where we received investment to start a business teaching English to children through the art of storytelling. 


At Storyvalues, my mission remains the same: to inspire and nurture the hearts and minds of children, fostering creativity, character values, social and emotional well-being, and the confidence to tell their own stories.

Mission​

At Storyvalues, my mission is to harness the ancient art of storytelling to enrich children’s lives. I aim to teach students about character, creativity, and communication skills, inspiring them to discover and share their own unique stories. Through the power of storytelling, I strive to foster a generation of imaginative, empathetic, emotionally healthy and articulate individuals who celebrate diversity and embrace their own voices.

Vision​

Through Storyvalues, I envision a world where every child is empowered through the transformative power of storytelling. Our goal is to create a global community where young minds are nurtured to become confident storytellers who appreciate diversity, exhibit strong character, and communicate with creativity and clarity. We aspire to be the leading force in fostering a future where stories bridge gaps, unite communities, and inspire endless possibilities.
