Child Care Centre Programs
Story Programs for Child Care Centres
For over 20 years, I have been bringing the magic of interactive storytelling and drama sessions to child care centres across southern Ontario. My fun and engaging sessions not only entertain and inspire children, but also help centres meet various Ontario learning expectations.
Story Routine
I begin each 30-minute story session with a lively mix of finger plays, rhymes, and songs. This engaging routine not only fosters gross and fine motor skills, but also enhances language development and strengthens listening skills. The children are captivated by the interactive, fun introduction, filled with laughter and joy, setting the perfect tone for an enchanting storytelling experience.
Drama and Role Playing
Next, I open magic story bag and pull out costumes, props, and musical instruments to help the children dramatize the multicultural folktales. During the story time, students learn about self-regulation, self-expression, creativity, empathy, and social engagement.
Follow Up Material
After my story class, I provide follow-up materials including story synopses, discussion topics, and art project suggestions to extend the learning both at home and at the centre.
Story Session Fee
The fee for up to two 30-minute story sessions is $200.00 + HST

F.A.Q.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about Cheryl’s story sessions.
The story sessions are designed for toddlers (18 to 24 months), Jr Pre-school (2 to 3 year olds), Sr. pre-school (3 to 4 year olds) and Jr and Sr kindergartens. The sessions are tailored to suit the different age groups, ensuring that all children can engage and benefit from the experience.
Our story sessions support the development of gross and fine motor skills, language learning, listening skills, empathy, self-regulation, creativity, and social engagement. We use stories and activities that reinforce key educational themes and values.
I tell engaging, age-appropriate stories that are both entertaining and educational. Some examples include classic tales like The Lion and the Mouse, Stone Soup, The Runaway Pancake and The Enormous Turnip.
The story sessions are 30-minutes long and can be scheduled on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.
