Creating a Unique Creature

Materials Needed

  • Large white construction paper
  • Coloured paper cut into fun animal parts; bodies, tails, legs, ears, muzzles, beaks and bills, wings, fins, flippers, etc.
  • Goggly eyes, feathers, texture materials
  • Glue sticks
  • Markers or crayons

Story Reflection

  • Retell the Platypus story
  • Ask children: “What makes the platypus special?”
  • Discuss how being different can be wonderful

Activity Steps

Explain the activity: “Today, we’ll create our own unique creature using different animal parts!”
